March 10th Edition...
Stephanie LaJohn, a nurse anesthetist at Shriners Hospital for Children-Erie, recently won a statewide award for her commitment to patient safety.
LaJohn received an “I AM Patient Safety” award from the Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority. She won in the category of “ Individual Impact--- Going Above and Beyond.”
She earned the award for her dedication and talents in making young patients calm before surgery, said Deb Balogh, Erie Shriners patient safety officer.
“Stephanie even turns anesthesia into a fun game.” Balogh said in a news release. “She lets the kids choose from 20 different flavors for the ‘anesthesia” and lines their breathing mask with lip gloss. … She often holds them in her lap and sings them softly to sleep.”
This is some of the special care that comes from Shriners Hospital our fantastic staff. This is one of the reasons Shriners Erie is one of the best places to work and bring children to in the tri-state area.
